This game is actually so good. It has Project Zomboid-esque moodle and health system. Like: "Remember that scratch you took from falling? It's infected now! Better hope there are some glowplants around!" And how you can take your surroundings and turn them into useful things. Take some foliage from nearby plants, and some metal from the nearby traps, and BOOM you have a bag! You are bleeding? No worries! Just take 3 piles of foliage from those glowplants and geofruit trees to make some ripped dressing! Another choice is to just find a mushplant and use their arms as bandages!
You can ABSOLUTELY survive this game just from plants and traps. It is just... VERY difficult. You need containers to store stuff, and foliage bags often don't cut it. And it just feels so good to find a full durability toolbox to put everything in.
Now I am gonna talk about silly stuff :3
I figured out how the dev menu works, and I immediately dismembered my head. Still alive somehow. Added 100% pain to my left foot and collapsed from shock. Ripped out one eye (horrible) , then ripped out the other (Suprisingly still playable). Removed my lower jaw. Made myself super happy, then super sad. Skipped to a layer, and got my foot dismembered by a big guy. Little guy has been THROUGH it.
So, overall. 9/10, would recommend if you like hardcore survival games like Project Zomboid.
This should be called depression simulator, its one of the genuinely saddest games I played, im not saying its bad im saying the game plot if very depression imagine being stranded on a planet thousands maybe 100s of 1000s of miles away from your home planet and even at your home you were still supressed
wouldn't the ''fusion'' betwen an human and an animal still look more animal than what we have now, literally looks like a furry suit i'm not even kidding
The creator of this game is a furry, and a fusion between human and animal is just scientifically impossible, and it'd honestly just look a little grotesque if it were realistic; I believe that the main character being cute and not physically adapted to the environment adds to the experience, because it makes you more attached to your lil fluffball.
Even a hybrid between humanity's closest alive relative is hypothetical; yes, there were likely hybrids between Neanderthals and Humans, but we don't know for sure, and even then, they were EXTREMELY close species; something like a fox or a rat just isn't viable the as chromosomes are too different.
if they were made to explore new planets, artificially, they woulda been artificially and genenticly cherrypicked to be best suited for the enviroment, right?
They wasn't used for that. They was only "tested" and that mission that we are send in was "behavior experiment". So, we wasn't even ment be send to that harsh place like that planet.
Yeah, I think so too! I believe these creatures were specifically engineered to be delivered to this planet and “retrieve piece of cargo.” They seem perfectly adapted for this mission – insanely tough, have opposable thumb (it seems like at least), yellow blood just like the local wildlife (whatever the reason, maybe an adaptation to excess lead in the soil, like leadbush?), and upright walking as a feature too. I don’t see any problem with these “fox-rat-dogs” being bipedal (anthropomorphic) – just another useful trait.
My only nitpick is with the original term “combining human and animal DNA” – it sounds kinda unprofessional (I’m sure english has better ways to describe genetic engineering, lol)
This game is a extremely hard but addictive game to play. Five Stars
Is there a possibility to have a setting to turn of swearing in the game? Its hard to recommend for people I know due to the fowl langue. I like it due to the realism of what the game is, but the ability to turn it of or sensor it so others can enjoy would be nice.
Also customization of my character would be fun to have.
One of the best currently free games out there, I hope for this game to flourish, this game is literally up my alley, unforgiving survival game (like Rain World which is my number 1 favorite game). I hope this releases to steam someday.
Good news Scav Prototype/Casualties: Unknown fans! We now have a Speedrun.com page that you can now submit some speedruns to! If you have any suggestions on categories or anything else I'd be happy to hear them. To find it go to speedrun.com and search up Casualties: Unknown good luck you'll need it!
I find it funny how you can be on the brink of death and speaking in tongues and the best a fellow survivor can do is look at me funny and be like, 'sigh, I know life is hard down here, but can you PLEASE die a little quieter'
Heya! You made a wonderdul stuff! I like mechanics, atmosphere and hardcore, especially the health system and the soundtrack But there are a couple of questions about the lore:
if the corp can mass-produse experiments and capsules - why not equip group (Could think about coop mode xD) expiditions? Sending them solo without gear feels odd for such an advanced entity even if it's very cheap, this is just ineffective
Hope these lore moments will be revealed in the future!
Thanks for the great game, looking forward to the next patches and hope for the emergence of a coop!
Enjoying this! Though I have a MAJOR issue with how powerful liquids are for seemingly no reason? Always seems like I get caught up in one tile of falling fluid and the game is like 'OOPE! Time to give the player 4 limbs of moderate bleeding and a broken bone from a fall that shouldn't have happened in the first place!
i died billion times and many more will, but i love this game but yeah save option in middle of the layer would be helpful in some irl urgent situations
Goated game, I really suggest it to any player who likes rogue-like games. It has a good medical system and harsh environment. Takes time to get to new layers in the map and there are traps everywhere.
For any new players that has come upon this game. Make sure to watch every step you take.
Never made it any deeper than the first zone but the games fun! The only annoyance I came into was the frequency of Loot that was behind a nearly indestructible layer of heat resistant metal, and the caves were less caves and more like something resembling the inside of a sponge.
Just did my first run. Stepped on broken glass (twice), panicked trying to make some bandages, triggered a trap while running to a plant for foliage, died from cardiac arrest eventually (pretty quickly) while addicted to pain meds. 10/10 game THIS IS AMAZING!!!
What absolutely blows me away is how deeply the environment affects them, both mentally and physically. You’re not just watching a meter go down — you’re hearing your character tell you, in their own words, what they’re going through. If they’re exhausted, they might mutter “I should stop for a bit.” If they’re badly hurt, they might admit “I can’t feel my legs…” or “I’m feeling dizzy.” It’s so human, it’s almost unsettling — and it makes you want to take care of them in a way I’ve never felt in another game.
Little details like their reaction to seeing a corpse — maybe they freeze, maybe their mood sinks for the rest of the day — create a genuine bond between player and character. You don’t just play as them… you look after them. And every little thing you do has an emotional weight to it.
This is what makes Scav Prototype stand out for me: it doesn’t just simulate survival, it simulates the experience of living through survival. You feel the pressure, the fear, the small moments of relief — all through a character who reacts exactly how you’d imagine a real person would.
For a 2D pixel game to pull this off is incredible. It’s tense, immersive, and full of those “wow” moments where you forget you’re playing a game and start treating the character like someone you actually know. If this is just the prototype, I can’t wait to see the full vision come to life.
honestly with how quick people seem to get quite emotionally invested/attached to the character it would be kind of neat if they did something a bit like one shot where the character and player can speak and interact with each other in certain ways.
My final take on the game, I would like to say it was a happy ending, but you know how this game goes... Probably the most violent way to end. But the adventure itself was hilarious! Thank you for making this gem, I will be back with more later on.
waow!! orson actually did it, i can hug and even nap with the survivors now!! that was like... one of my biggest wishes once i saw the traders the first time ^w^
i am so joyous about that, it is very cute (i havent gotten to the new area yet, but the new trade interface is nice)
i am excited to see what else will happen with this interactive audiovisual entertainment medium, though dont forget to take breaks when needed and stuff! stay safe silly and sillies :P
game is amazing and I'm addicted. but I found a bug if you spawn in a drill pod at layer 4 and use it you go to frozen chasms, and then if you save at the end of the empty layer, when you try to go into layer 7 you can't ever leave the loading screen. obviously, this is usually only with commands but just saying. :) also i found barely any enemies to test out my weapons. might just be a me problem though so idrc
While I've WATCHED a lot of Project Zomboid stuff, this is my first time actually playing a game similar to it (besides Rain World)... and this is a great introduction to the genre! I turned Trap Amount down to 20% because I'm a coward, but I had a lot of fun with the game anyways, and it was still pretty difficult.
My first little goober unfortunately died of starvation, but after discovering you can throw Glow Berries down pits to illuminate them and determine how safe the fall would be, my second ongoing attempt has gotten me to Layer 2 so far.
My only complaints so far are that
it's difficult to find enough food to get rid of the Underweight and Skinny debuffs
the Recipes in the Crafting menu don't explain what the item you're crafting actually DOES when you hover your mouse over them
the Bag menu can clip offscreen if you're too high up, or too far to the right Screen Border, making you unable to access your items until you move away from the edge of the screen.
Otherwise, SOLID game, absolutely love it, I feel so bad for the little creature whenever they get hurt. If this releases on Steam, I'm buying it day one.
This game really peaked my attention and I think it looks really cool. While it's already quite rich in mechanics, I don't find it enjoyable to play, though.
Why: 1. there is no pause button, yet it can take an hour even to just reach level 2. 2. things happen too fast, you barely get a moment to take a breather, because the moment you let your character take a break, there is an earthquake. How is a fracture supposed to heal on its own, if there is always something going on? 3. the character and the items can't hold still. On one hand this leads to constant injuries, especially during sleep, but it's also annoying as heck to pin point click a tiny item that is shaking or even zooming around the floor for NO reason. 4. any injury gets infected. why? even when my arm didn't bleed it's suddenly infected... there was no way for me to avoid it and now it's a long lasting issue. 5. lack of instructions. I don't know how to use some of these items and there is no way for me to pause the game and look things up, so it would be helpful to get a bit more information during gameplay.
If these are intentional, than I admit, it's going to go well with the crowd that loves this. Personally I would like to come back to this, after a few updates and see if it is more playable for me.
Thank you! I did find the tutorial a bit difficult to follow. I'd personally rather have a wiki or simply a long text explaining everything, because I can read that at my own pace.
I think 3. with items happens when there is water that is moving back and forth on the ground and for some reason that applies ridiculous amounts of velocity to the items in it, and I don't think is intentional.
As for 4., I believe a body part with very low skin health can get infected if you don't cover it with bandages. Your character tends to communicate this risk to you I think unless there are more pressing matters at hand, and I've noticed it does get infected eventually if you don't wrap it up or heal the skin fast, even if there is no bleeding wound on it or you cleared out an infection on there before.
And infections are effected by overall immunity of body. Might have a shitty blood lost and wounds, but as long you have high immunity you can patch yourself up and go way deeper down.
That makes me wonder if there is a secret immunity stat that is random? It felt like on that specific run, my character just couldn't get rid of infections and I have no idea why, I treated them immediately and kept them treated. On that run I also had a surprising amount of food supplies, so I kept fed. Sleep was another issue I had to constantly deal with, because I had to dig a lot. During the entire run my character kept complaining about their paw, but I didn't know which one they meant and there was also no status icon that explained what was going on. The sudden infection then appeared on a shoulder. Maybe this is related to all the digging?
As far i seen, all infections comes from skin status and immunity. Low immunity and skin durability, infection on 30% is on (cuz usually i take notice that spawns on that). Much pain status on exact part might effect on character.
On add, you can overfed and make character fat (but I am sure that chubby is a effect. Fed a lot fat things (chunk of meat, hamburger)).
And too say, I am not sure of all, but I can say that what I observed so far. So take all with some grand of salt (or what was say).
my characters wish that they are overfed and chubby... I ususally end up being too thin, because I can't find enough high-calorie food sources... My run yesterday actually ended with my character dying from starvation in the desert and that was the most successful run I had so far. However I did watch other people play the game now and it seems that I've been mostly unlucky with loot. Also people do sometimes eat the flesh of corpses and I've not seen that have a bad effect, yet.

Scavenger dying repeatedly? Must be Arti
Personally, I would appreciate if the escape key paused the game. Having to walk away is definitely something that happens.
unfocusing (alt+tab or windows key) the game pauses it
It doesn't though
This game is actually so good. It has Project Zomboid-esque moodle and health system. Like: "Remember that scratch you took from falling? It's infected now! Better hope there are some glowplants around!" And how you can take your surroundings and turn them into useful things. Skipped to a layer, and got my foot dismembered by a big guy. Little guy has been THROUGH it.
So, overall. 9/10, would recommend if you like hardcore survival games like Project Zomboid.
The trader didn't even react to me being in extreme pain and bleeding out in front of them so I blew their brains out. 9/10 would do again
i love this game PLEASE update it
Update: 11 day ago…
Hello Carlito.
This should be called depression simulator, its one of the genuinely saddest games I played, im not saying its bad im saying the game plot if very depression imagine being stranded on a planet thousands maybe 100s of 1000s of miles away from your home planet and even at your home you were still supressed
very cool and amazing!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait for the full game!!!!!! one time i died of hypothermia in my sleep so that was fun
можна проткнуть маленького фурёнка ловушкой , лайк
I made a couple of burgers with a bottle of ketchup I've found, and it made my character so happy. Pretty little thing.
Furry hell yeah
give us multiplayer and make the character less furry suit like and more like an actual animal that is designed to survive in the wilderness plz
They aren't supposed to be designed to survive in the wilderness. They are artificial. Also, as fun as multiplayer sounds, it's difficult to program.
wouldn't the ''fusion'' betwen an human and an animal still look more animal than what we have now, literally looks like a furry suit i'm not even kidding

"scientifically impossible"
you are wrong

I'm not a furry, but the game is really good, really difficult, realistic, and fun. I'm thinking I'm a masochist...
This game is a extremely hard but addictive game to play. Five Stars

just tell them to stop being a bitch
What sort of people have a problem with swearing but not with the character crying from pain after getting impaled by a rusty spike?
Live streamers and content creators especially on YouTube probably
If they're having trouble with fowl language then I'm surprised they haven't flown the coop yet.
very high quality game, very realistic, and difficult.
For people who like tough survival in a more 2d style, this is def up your alley. Hope to see the game grow!
Online multiplayer would be a double edged sword
On one hand, your teammates are constantly trying to help you
On the other hand, they take up a bit of resource and their death will be very impactful
I care about this game and just want to give some ideas
Will multiplayer mode be added?
different body colors?
will add specializations (like strong morale and vice versa)?
will more enemies be added?
One of the best currently free games out there, I hope for this game to flourish, this game is literally up my alley, unforgiving survival game (like Rain World which is my number 1 favorite game). I hope this releases to steam someday.

So far, what i read, all is behavior experiment. So lore wise is say that. Plus there's failsave that might some of Expies try leaving caves...
Enjoying this!

What can I say, awesome work so far! Keep it up! And shut up and take my münies! You deserve it!
PS. Works great on Nobara Linux through Lutris (Proton Experimental)
Thank you, chief
good game, if only there were toggle setting to not be a furry
It's part of the lore, boss
Do you get intro right? YOU are one of those who was sent down there. So, Lore mate, lore.
What absolutely blows me away is how deeply the environment affects them, both mentally and physically. You’re not just watching a meter go down — you’re hearing your character tell you, in their own words, what they’re going through.

Wait was there a update? I noticed the game looks different, I haven't played this game in a while..
Yea this game was updated few days ago
Huh?
friggin epic game, thank you orsonik i fw you heavy
While I've WATCHED a lot of Project Zomboid stuff, this is my first time actually playing a game similar to it (besides Rain World)... and this is a great introduction to the genre! I turned Trap Amount down to 20% because I'm a coward, but I had a lot of fun with the game anyways, and it was still pretty difficult.

Otherwise, SOLID game, absolutely love it, I feel so bad for the little creature whenever they get hurt. If this releases on Steam, I'm buying it day one.
in the same vein as turning the trap amount down, you can turn the loot volume up in the same menu to find more food.
This game really peaked my attention and I think it looks really cool.
While it's already quite rich in mechanics, I don't find it enjoyable to play, though.
Why:

As far as Why 1. goes, i've noticed the game pauses whenever you tab out, i'd try that!
the game does in fact have a tutorial but if it doesnt help you there is always a way to see what an item does by pressing shift.
Thank you!
I did find the tutorial a bit difficult to follow. I'd personally rather have a wiki or simply a long text explaining everything, because I can read that at my own pace.

Do you are familiar with Fear And Hunger?
