goty 2025 for me. have my kids orsoniks. This game is absolutely like horrible in the best way possible. Every mechanic and the tone of the game work with each other so well. Best of luck in the future with updating this goat
I love this game and its very dark themes, I hope the developer continues to expand on this game and universe further. I understand such dark theming isn't for everyone but it really is a core reason why this game is so touching. I really can see a bright future for this developer, especially if they keep up this level of good work its amazing! Literally just made my Itch account just to comment this lol
game and community would be much better if orsoniks wouldnt be an unreasonable loser. just saw some guy get punished literally for being reasonable and just trying to question why orsoniks is being mean.
A developer not being a living representation of purity and kindness? Please never interact with anything they make!
Why do you think half if not the most developers don't interact with their community in any way other than feedback and announcements?
Something tells me you'd be the kind of person who watches 20 videos straight about Pirate Software, while at the same time not knowing he existed before 2025
I love this game, but god does everything that happens make me feel bad for these poor little critters, especially with the noises they make. I am curious as to what they are though, if you've given them a name-- they remind me a lot of Avali in appearance and the noises they make.
they're just named experiments im pretty sure but i could be wrong, somewhere in the game it mentions they're kinda a mix of a fox, a rat, a dog and a human
Brutal game but enjoying it, I feel crafting can be a little clunky with how if you go slightly further than the craftign window while dragging something in it you end up closing it, or if you drag to the recepie list instead of the show crafting recepies "button" you just drop it. Speakin of droppign sometimes I want to grab an item but the pile of glowfruits is makiing it impossible to see the foliage I want to grab so I flail with the mouse hoping to find it, some sort of interactible list you could open to not make it this finniky would be nice, or being able to use scroolwheel to cycle between items behind the cursor. Suggestting the latter because I once wanted to use a pod shower but I couldn't interact with the button since the survivor was in the way
This game is awesome. Reminds me of all the good hardcore and unforgiving games, like Rimworld, SS13, Barotrauma, and others. Health system is wonderful, and it feels so bleak when your character is so depressed that tending to its wounds is clumsily done, if done at all. The furthest I have made it is to the Dried Desert layer, yet I have played so many runs and failed in so many spectacular ways! (Drowning, traps, falling, hunger, infection, depression, bleeding). This game has so much potential, and I would love to see where you take the development of it. It is original, and a breath of fresh air for someone who loves challenging environments and hardcore mechanics. The mental health is not perfectly made, but it works extremely well, and the health system is just perfect! I wish there were more things to find, more dangers to encounter, and perhaps more bodily injuries, illnesses, viruses, or health debuffs. More clothes would be lovely as well, and perhaps a layer that requires the player to be prepared for armed combat? Your health system would truly shine there. I wish you the best of luck, and thank you for this gem of a game.
I will probably make another video of this awesome game. It's very realistic, animations are very de-"tailed" (sorry, couldn't resist to make that furry joke) and the injury system is very life like, especially the way the character hits itself.
This game is BEAUTIFUL. I love Rain World and SS13/Barotrauma and this feels like all of just that. Cannot wait for future plans, maybe a Steam release?
this game would be even more fun if it had multiplayer I just picture someone just playing the game and then one of their friends just falling past them
I do not have the money to drop on this now, but rest assured when this game is finished I will be buying it. Please do make sure to announce when you drop this on steam, epic, or wherever you do. I will wishlist.
Ok so turns out if you get depressed enough your character cuts themselves, like heavily enough to bleed to death, also robbery going wrong where they fight you and you killing the trader basically makes you depressed instantly, tho killing them makes them drop all they're stuff. All these things MAY have all been learnt within the same 5 minutes
very nice game, very emotionally upsetting. not because of failing, but because of my little guy's suffering. i dont think i can play this for too long.. i need a break.
Depression is just bad game design. I got hurt, I can't heal due to depression, because of the injury the depression is growing. I don't believe that in just four days in this hole he already has suicidal thoughts. This is a survival game with a main character who doesn't want to live, it's just stupid.
fun fact, being in a strange new place with no food or water, and many broken bones, is very saddening, im just saying, like if you had your whole leg fractured it would probably make you loose hope, as there is no supplies or people nearby, just saying, also its supposed to be a hard game, you're probably the same kind of person to play rainworld for two minutes and complain that the game doesn't have a map from the get-go
No, I play hardcore games, but when any significant damage becomes a hopeless situation, it's stupid. What's the point of all this deep healing and health system if one dislocated bone can kill you, then you can just make a death screen when you take damage.
its been a bit since ive actually died because my character was depressed and they couldn't heal themselves, usually only become miserable if i am already extremely fucked up and basically cant recover.
Its not bad game design its basically a punishment for eating disgusting shit or getting hurt bad and you typically need to be in absolutely terrible shape health wise to reach that level of sadness
you can counteract that by just doing things that would make you happy like eating yummy foods, over eating also makes you happy so just do what i do and eat every geofruit you can unless you are literaly full
so basically depression is good game design AND its somewhat easy to counteract if you know how. I understand, its a hardcore game
I ate a whole bucket of chicken. What pisses me off more is that the character stops healing himself. A normal example of depression is Zomboid, which the developer was obviously partially inspired by. There, the character doesn't suddenly stop wanting to live, but simply starts doing everything slower and starving faster, which is much more logical. I also didn't say that the game is bad in general, it's just that part doesn't make sense.
I mean, the main character is an experiment. In gunsaw, it is stated that experiments are quite emotionally sensitive. Ngl, I'd feel the same way If i was in the middle of nowhere, underground, just forced to kinda... Dig nonstop and find stuff and deal with injuries myself. The point of the game is to show how hard the odds in such an environment is.
The inability to heal is chance-based, so if you keep trying to heal, unless your character is INCREDIBLY DEPRESSED, in which you'll be more worried about your character literally trying to worsen his conditions by harming himself rather than the inability to heal.
The best tip I can give though is to prevent depression, which wasn't likely entirely caused by your character suffering an injury. Looking at corpses, eating really nasty stuff like your own species' parts, and generally just not tending to your character's wants and needs can cause them to get depressed fast.
Stuff as simple as feeding your character geofruit, or really anything that seems tasty for that matter, and playing carefully as to not physically push your character too hard will easily help prevent depression.
Stopping depression is kinda different though. You CAN try to use geofruit or tasty things, but at that point you might need some assistance, not just from drugs, but also probably stuff as simple as looking for comfortable places to sleep and hypothetically, possibly some social interaction with survivors.
The depression system is really complex, if you have any questions, I can help you figure them out.
they need to add the line of sight mechanic, where you cant see through walls. so the flashlight and other light items only light up whats directly visible, so you cant determine if a wall is thin or not, add that as an optional feature u can toggle pleaseeeeee
I fell asleep in a working drill pod, lost my toolbox full of everything, and woke up at layer 4 with almost nothing to my name. But despite that, I made it through.
I even reached Gleeful mood for the first time during this, and without any mind-altering substances. The description of that mood feels so powerful, and it felt quite inspiring in this context too.
Thank you for making this game, Orsoniks. For how much some of the failures and deaths feel sad and sickening, when you do actually prevail it feels that much more inspiring. I hope to carry this tenacity with me to real life.
u get launched, crack your skull, get borderline TBI but somehow ur still alive, try to assess the situation, takea few steps, faint, fall head first onto a spike trap. all while you cant see, probably cant hear, and most likely cant stand up straight. right after getting swarmed by the lil shit spiders.

i love this game so much
silly litle guy torment nexus :3
also just, lerning how to do well is so much fun, despite the horrors and horible injuries and constant death
the new life pods and trading system are great too (not being locked to one category at a time is so much better, and feels more like actual trading)
goty 2025 for me. have my kids orsoniks.

needs a steam release because ITCH games never get the attention they need
A mix of features from several of my favorite games, would definitely buy a full version if it hit steam or similar.

That's a crazy good and well-made game for being free and a demo!
Had a lot of fun, really hope to see more of it!
game and community would be much better if orsoniks wouldnt be an unreasonable loser. just saw some guy get punished literally for being reasonable and just trying to question why orsoniks is being mean.

this game is so amazingly good but the protagonist makes me want to cry

also avali mention peak
You can find more info in Orsoniks' other game, Gunsaw.
Glad to see it runs through Wine. Not having a text log makes it pretty had tho. Just that would help a lot.
(also, in the tutorial the disinfectant disappeared from my inventory after I rested somehow??? Maybe because I wasn't on the soft surface?)

Having more inventory and being able to tend to others would be great co-op mechanics.
But we know it'll be pure chaos anyway.

have you tried eating food
i heard that being happy makes you not sad... also theres like a bunch of drugs in the game to help with that
I mean, if I was in that situation I wouldn't wanna live either. Can you blame the poor fella?

changelog?
i like how reality distorts itself more and more as your character’s status becomes worse, especially the sounds
u get launched, crack your skull, get borderline TBI but somehow ur still alive, try to assess the situation, takea few steps, faint, fall head first onto a spike trap. all while you cant see, probably cant hear, and most likely cant stand up straight. right after getting swarmed by the lil shit spiders.
Amazing game, hope that you continue the development
